Hi, my Name is Norma Salas: For the past 4 years I have been helping at Neighborhood Christian Center in Santa Clara working in the Edible Yard. We have 3 active worm bins, two compost bins, chickens, Native Village area where the children learn about the different native tribes, grape vines and Edible Garden.
I and a couple of colleagues toured Middlebrook with Alrie Middlebrook in April. We were impacted by CNGF and the benefits of incorporating native plants in an existing garden. Our executive director, Graciela Hahn, was oversees at the time helping out the schools we support. Upon her return, our director was also able to tour Middlebrook with Alrie Middlebrook this past week.
The benefits of having native plants incorporated in our garden is the next step we would like to proceed with. We would like to begin the 2014-2015 school year [mid August 2014] with native plants in place. During our tour Alrie mentioned grants for new native gardens. What is the process for this?
In addition, we look forward to having Alrie Middlebrook be our speaker at the NCC 3rd Annual Green School Forum on September 13, 2014.
