Beer Brewing with CA Native Plants

Saturday July 19 @ Middlebrook Center.  RESERVE YOUR FREE TICKETS NOW:  Learn to make beer from our own garden ingredients! CNGF and Eating California are hosting a special beer making workshop at the Middlebrook Center in downtown San Jose. Led by Brewmaster Rick Riebhoff, we will make unique beers using freshly picked plants from our garden. The type of beer we’ll create is most similar to the older traditional Farmhouse Ales that use various spices, fruits, herbs, and flowers from the garden to add a more complex flavor.

Beer Samples, Appetizers and Garden Food will be available. Everyone is welcome to add to our buffet for a community Pot Luck.

Depending on the plants in the garden at the time, we will be making an elderberry porter (using elderflowers and elderberry juice) and possibly a farmhouse ale (lighter, Belgian-type ale) with local honey, herbs, maybe some elderberry or apricot, yarrow.

The best part is that it is all for a great cause.

Tickets are free. However, we ask our guests to please donate what you can to the nonprofit California Native Garden Foundation to help support our ongoing effort to design and install teaching gardens into our public schools.
