Everybody here at CNGF (California Native Garden Foundation) would like to thank the State Water Resources Control Board of the California Environmental Protection Agency for awarding us a $154,000 grant this summer as part of the Drought Response Outreach Program for Schools (DROPS). We’re so fortunate and thankful for the grant that we received due to the State’s kindness and consideration. This $154,000 grant will be used to support our work in developing a bioswale for Downtown College Preparatory (DCP) in San Jose. This project will serve to educate the students and public about sustainable ecologically minded development while benefiting the Guadalupe watershed by reducing the load of the sewer systems and recharging the groundwater system. These funds will be used to develop the bioswale using 100% native plants, to establish an educational program that will utilize the garden, and to ensure the program’s longevity and success.
