Saturdays Eating California Series!

A great lineup of Native Edible events in August and September!

 

Join us on Saturdays for our “Eating California”(tm) Native Edible Eating Series!

The non-profit California Native Garden Foundation invites you to join us at the Middlebrook Center on Saturdays in August and September to learn about the art of exploring the beneficial properties of native gardens and edible plants!

We will focus on preparing and presenting native edible foods for the future that are perennial and have drought-tolerant properties. Also, ethnic foods, particularly ancestral, pay respect to the importance of honoring an array of traditions from different world sources of nutrition.

Participation in any of our hands-on workshops for $25 will earn you a 25% discount to our final Eating California Fall Harvest Festival on September 20th. We will enjoy the beer, jam, and flowers we make at our workshops at the Festival, so don’t miss out! Chef Anna Muggiati and the other featured hosts of our workshops will contribute delicious and beautiful items to this culminating event.

Workshop fee: $25 (take home jam jars included)

The Fall Harvest Festival on September 20th culminates the summer events, and starts fall off fresh with an elegant dinner to include a tasting menu from our chefs, sustainable wine, garden-brewed beer, a silent auction, jazz music, and more!

We will present the summer’s results from our CNGF interns and our ELSEE garden teaching program, with a focus on six schools we will recognize. In addition, we will show some of our work-in-progress, including “A Garden for Ghana” — a CNGF-sponsored project happening on the other side of the world.

*Special sliding pricing for this gala event: $100 general admission, $15 for students, $50 for educators, and $75 for hands-on workshop participants. Please come out and support us in this beneficial and fun event!

After the Fall Harvest Festival, join us again the following day, Sunday, September 21, for the Silicon Valley Tour De Coop Event from 9 AM- 7 PM! Join the procession to bike, walk, or ride around the local San Jose area to see different chicken coops. Then return to the Middlebrook Center at 4 PM to sample fresh egg dishes created by professional personal Chef Joni Sare and meet other coopsters and future coop owners.
