Youth say ‘YES’ to sustainability
Categories: What's Happening
We were honored to take part in the 2017 Youth for Environment and Sustainability Conference Feb. 25.
Middle and high school students from nine Bay Area counties discussed climate change solutions.
CNGF was a co-sponsor of the YES youth conference today in SF and the Spare the Air event’s main sponsor was The Bay Area Air Quality Control District.
Our Aquaponics club led by Henry Nguyen from College Preparatory High school in San Jose and CNGF Aquaponics intern, Chris Doan, gave an outstanding presentation about why Aquaponics is the urban agriculture of the future.
Our nursery manager Angela and her team grew 500 native edible plants to give to all 500+ attendees at the conference. We hope to inspire future sustainable farms and gardens.
We connected with 15 schools from all over the Bay Area. They all want to learn how to build systems at their schools and visit the Middlebrook Center and our system to see how to build one that produces a whole lotta food using 10% of the water used in conventional farms!
These farms not only save water and grow more food but they don’t use fertilizer.
